What do bags mean?

Hey guys!
Thought I would post something a little different tonight, and this may possibly be the 3, maybe 4 (Can't actually remember) glasses of wine for post - work drinks that are talking, however, having just got home and glimpsed an article in the July 13 issue of Elle I feel compelled to write this post.

The handbag we carry is supposed to say alot about the women we are, and trends for Autumn/Winter 2013 are making a BIG statement.
I am not normally one for looking for such a meaning in a particular accessory, to be honest I don my uniform of baggy black shirts and leather for the primary reasons that they hide all manor of sins and black is a colour that is suitable for almost any occasion so it is also convenient. Accessories are normally an after thought for me, and to be quite honest, the only thought into the type of bag I carry is whether is is big enough to carry all my crap around for the upcoming day. (My Primarni rucksack is the bag of choice right now as it is easy to lug everything around in it while still hinting at the 90s trend which I am loving).

Elle stated that Handbags have become more than just a bag; they have become a symbol of feminism. I am genuinely unsure whether I agree with this.
Trends are showing that the handbag of choice for women in the upcoming season are larger bags, still stylish, however, much larger than your typical Chanel or Hermes.
The increase in the size of handbags is said to be reflecting on the feminist shift in the way we are thinking. Women are no longer able to carry everything they need in a small and pretty clutch (money, phone, ciggys, ya know... the basics) and this is due to women becoming more included in the working world and needing to not only carry more, but to look more professional.

I'm not going to lie to you, I normally couldn't give a damn about the "feministic symbols" of a certain accessory, if I like it, I like it! However, in this case this article genuinely sparked my interest.

In my opinion larger bags just seem to be more convenient and quite often more stylish, not a fan of the girly glitzy glittery clutches and so forth, but my question to you guys is, do you agree that there is more to this trend? Is this season's trend showing a further lean into feminism or is it just continuing to be a way of carrying something that looks good and in the words of Elle, carrying something that assists in hiding our bums while we climb the stairs?

I want to know what you guys think!

All black...

Hey guys!

It has been a busy couple of weeks! I have moved house finally, no more crappy landlord for me!
I should be still on my way home from work right now, however,  I have had the day off because I have been ill. Fed up with this nasty stomach bug now.

Anyway, I had an outfit post from a few weeks ago that I never actually got round to posting so I thought I would do that today as there isn't alot else for me to do.

This was an outfit I bought a couple of weeks ago and I have to say I think it is one of the best purchases I've ever made! I love it!

Boots, jumpsuit and necklace - Topshop, earrings - vintage.

This is by far one of the comfiest outfits I have ever worn. I can't get enough of it.
It is great for the office, lounging around or a night out. So versatile!

I chose to glam it up a little with some bling, again, because I think it gives it a bit of sparkle and stops the black from looking so dull.

I am now off to waste some more time. I might try to connect my telly, however, I am a total techophobe so this could be a total disaster. Wish me luck.

See you laterrrr!

The spaceman said it ain't so bad.

Hey guys!

Another long week in the world of work!
So tired all the time, yet still finding time to fit in the gym! However, if it wasn't for the boy keeping up with the housework I would be living in a rubbish dump as work and gym leaves little time for anything else.

This week is gonna be a busy week, gotta keep up with the gym and work and planning my dissertation and moving house at the weekend! So much to do, so little time.

Anyway. Sunday I had a day off from everything, so the boy and I went on a little shopping trip. I bought a beautiful jumpsuit which I will feature later in the week and a leather dress, which looked cool in Topshop but when I got it home it quite literally looked like a bin bag. So needless to say, that will be taken back next time I head into town.

This is what I wore for the day.

Top - River Island Mens, Hat, necklace and boots - Topshop, Skirt - Ark

I love teaming a man shirt with a girly skirt, even if it is still a little grungy. They are perfect for just chucking on with anything and best of all they are comfy and flattering.

I thought I'd add the Oxblood boots as a nice change from black creepers or boots and they matched the lipstick quite well. I love adding chunky bling with an all black outfit because... well, who doesn't love chunky bling!

I am now off to catch up on some telly and get an early night. Living life in the fast lane!

Love you all!

You wanted all I had to give...

Look guys, I am rubbish. Sorry for my long absence.
I have been a busy bee!

I have gotten myself a job!
A real 9 to 5 job. The boyf has also moved in and have been attempting to make the gym a very frequent part of my routine, plus getting a decent sleeping pattern sorted - no more 6 AM bedtimes for me as I now have to be up at 7 for work, so as you can imagine, I have been a little preoccupied! Don't know how the rest of you bloggers do it!

However, for this post, I thought I would show you how I would style my seriously cool new over-sized shirt that I bought for work!

Shirt and rucksack - Primark, Leggings - River Island, Socks - H&M, Creepers, Pasha Northampton (Now  Redbox)

So this is essentially how I wore the shirt for work, the dress code is smart casual, but that means no miniskirts, which has obviously been a bit of a problem considering that is pretty much all I wear.
So, all black, very sensible, perfect for those days when you just want to cover up and hide under something flattering, however, the sheerness of the fabric allows the wearer to add a little sexy twist to the outfit should they choose to. It also comes in cream and would make a great holiday wear, for throwing on at the beach or in the evenings with the studded belt that is included.
at £10 it is a bit of a bargain in my opinion.

Anywho. This is how I would take it from office to night out...

Leather shorts - River Island, Boots and necklace - Topshop, Vest (Under shirt) - New Look

For a night out I would just swap leggings for shorts and flats for heels.
I chose a chunky necklace as it stood out well against the black, and also matched with the cute gold buttons on the shirt.
Now these boots. These boots are my babies. They are fairly painful boots, but I love them so much that I am willing to put up with them. ( I have a black big toenail that proves my persistence, but come on... So freaking hot!)

I had been eyeing them in Topshop for about 5 months, however, at £100 they were too far out of my budget, so when they went into sale at £50 I decided to wait for a few days, then when I looked again and they still had them in my size I knew it was a sign I needed to buy them.
Yes. NEEDED. Don't judge.

Once again, I digress, the gold detailing on the buckles also matched the buttons on the shirt so I thought they were a great combination!
I thought a blood red lip gave a slick pop of colour to the outfit, but still in keeping with my grungy style.

Now just need to find the time to go on a night out so I can actually show off this combination!

Gonna say ciao for now because I don't know when the heck I will be back.

Summery Pastels...

Hey guys! Hope you are all enjoying the lovely weather, because more than likely it will be gone by tomorrow!

It has been a few crazy days. I decided to come home for a little while as I was fed up being in Northampton, and I have loved every minute of it!
Went on a little shopping trip in Norwich on Thursday and bought a few goodies, many of which were from Ann Summers, and are possibly a little inappropriate to post, however, I also bought this beautiful dress. I think the sun came out specifically to allow me to wear it!

Sunglasses - H&M, Dress - Ark, Socks - H&M, Boots - Truffle, Hair bow - River Island, Earrings - Topshop.

I fell in love with this dress the minute I saw it. The colours are gorgeous, perfect for summer, and the pattern is sooo funky and cool. The design of the back is also really cool. I have never seen anything like it.
For anyone considering buying it, go a size or two down, as I am normally a size 12 and this dress (size 10) is still too big! It also has padding in the cups so a bra is not needed. A good thing with a back like that!
All I need now is a good tan!

For evenings or colder days I will team it with a leather jacket or wear a denim shirt under it. It would also look great teamed with black sandals.

What are you all up to this lovely evening? I am gonna chill with the family and read a book.

See ya laterrrzzz

You're my best friend and I love you...

Hey guys! I'm back... Finally.
Well, it has definitely been a busy few weeks, deadlines coming out of my ears, preparing for summer, job hunting and of course the end of year celebrations, of which there has been many.
So good news, got a job for the summer! That means no sitting around bored and moderately depressed like last summer. I finished Uni only a couple of weeks ago, and already I am crazy bored, can't wait to start work and get a proper routine going!
Anyway. As I have still not got round to uploading my last outfit post, when I was on a visit at home, here it is. I apologise for the moody face, I promise I was in a good mood!

Tee - Topshop, Skirt - Ark, Boots - Office, Cardigan - Primark, Earrings - Topshop, Glasses - Borrowed

I realise I posted this outfit way back last year, however, I love it so I thought I'd post it again.
This skirt is one of my faves. As it the tee. Cannot wear them enough!

Quick question, as my camera appears to have permanently gone crazy, do any of you guys have any reasonably priced cameras that you would recommend? Mine is doing my head in!

I am now off to watch 2 Broke Girls and continue my lovely night in with the boy.

Ciao Ciao for now!

Do you think we'll be in love forever? Do you think we'll be in love...

So tonight I had a little night out, which was a lovely and much needed break from being in my house on my own. I should not have gone, as A, I have far too much work to be doing, B, supposed to be saving my money and C, was meant to be starting my fast today.
All of these things have failed. Disaster.
Anyway, on a positive note, I had a half successful shopping trip today, the results of which, I wore tonight.

Pinafore dress - River Island, Mock Denim Bandeau - Newlook, Boots - Office, Earrings - Topshop Watch - Fossil

So I bought these things today to cheer myself up, and because I felt like I had been far too sensible with my birthday money so far. I have to say, the pinafore has a very odd fit. As much as I love it, it is supposed to be crossed over at the back only once, however, the straps are so insanely long that the only way I could get it to fit was to twist it over and over again! Still, for £20 I can't really complain, seeing as I usually find River Island to be fairly over priced.
I thought it would go well with the denim bandeau for a night out as it made it look a little dressier, but I will normally be paring it with a sheer cream shirt.
I also did something new today and actually experimented with new make up. I normally wear the same make up every day and never change my style, however today I wanted to add a little colour into the mix. I invested in a Barry M eyeshadow pencil in Purple, and I have to say, I have never been so impressed with a make up product. I have very sensitive skin and find that alot of products bring me up in a rash or make my eyes water, however, this one was absolutely fine. It was also very easy to create the shape I wanted, with sharp pointed flicks at the end of each eye, a look that I have never been able to create with a brush.
If you are a bit of a make up novice like myself then I would say it is definitely worth investing.

On that note, I am off to finish watching Pirates of the Caribbean and to get some sleep as my house is cold and creepy and I am extremely shattered. Not to mention I have to be up fairly early tomorrow to crack on with even more work tomorrow as I did precisely nothing today. The fear is definitely kicking in now. Cannot wait for it all to be over.

Anywho.
Good night my lovers!
